Hiking on the Blaskets - the abandoned village
The island used to be inhabited, despite the fact that it was often impossible to reach due to bad weather. In 1953, the last inhabitants left, when the community was already reduced from 200 around 1914 to 20. Especially young people left, making the community impossible to maintain.
